Ms Irvin,
I am an employee in the marketing department. I wish to remain anonymous. I would like to bring to your attention certain things that are going on within the department with regards to the above mentioned position. It is very disturbing and demoralizing for those of us who wish to be judged based on merit and not who you know. We have worked hard for this company and waited years for growth and we deserve a fair and level playing field.
There are certain applicants who only applied for this position because they were asked by Senior management to apply. Some of the managers conducting interviews already know who they are hiring based on who they’ve been asked to hire. They have been talking to some of the hosts about this. One of those recommended by Joe Jimenez is Ramona Gaughan, a slot supervisor with no marketing background. I think this position calls for someone with at least a Host, executive Host or Promotions shift manager’s experience. The applicant must be familiar and well versed in marketing S&P’s. It is imperative they are able to read and interpret play and Theoreticals in order to make good, sound business decisions at the drop of a hat. Especially when servicing the kind of high caliber players we intend to bring to the MGM.
They will be overseeing 10 Hosts of which 7 will be new hires and 14 marketing Reps. We cannot afford
to place anyone out of the 5 available positions even if they have the best credentials in this position. IT IS NOT A GOOD BUSINESS DECISION. They will not be in a position to train, advise or even answer the questions posed to them being that they will also be learning.
High rollers or any kind of players in need of prompt service with the kind of finesse expected of the MGM will not be satisfied.
There are good potential candidates within the Host and Promotions departments Please Ms Irvin I ask that you interven and make sure this process is fair. The interviews are due to start tomorrow 3/5/08.
On another note, from the Table Games, Kevin O’Sullivan asked Mary Lizotte to apply for a position as a Pit manager at the MGM which requires her to have Craps. She told him she did not have it but he insisted she put in for it anyway. There are lots of applicants with years of experience under their belt and who also are qualified in all the games required for the positon including craps. Chances are that they may be passed over for whatever reason, nationality, race or even gender.
Please investigate and intervene so that the morale which has been at an all time low does not go any lower.
Thank you for your time.
